Elite Dangerous Character Creator: Female Heads

I was the lead character artist on the character creation system for Elite Dangerous, Frontier Development's PC/PS4/XB1 space sim game.

The Character Creator (a.k.a. Holo-Me) allows the player to customise the appearance of their character: push around facial proportions, change eye/skin/hair colour, swap hairstyles, apply eyewear/makeup/facial hair/scars/tattoos, and so on.

All the images here are screen captures straight out of the game; I did soup up the colours in Photoshop just because that's my taste. :)

A big shout out to all the incredible Frontier people on Team Avatar: Lee Dalton, Chih-Chieh Wu, Stefan Scheffers, Sam Bang (character modelling); Ollie Powell, Simon Mayes, Arturo Colorado (code); Eddie Symons (production); Ivan Cebola, Lucy Bugby, Thomas Wiggins (shader/render tech); Tim Ridgarde (character rigging).

This page showcases some of the female heads that it's possible to create with Elite's character creation system. I only worked on the characters' heads in these images.

The system had to be versatile enough to generate NPCs that could populate luxury spaceports, science labs, mining and military bases, and pirate outposts. Base heads by me & Lee; hair by me, Lee & Chih-Chieh Wu; face variation blendshapes by me
